Well, we knew McConaughey had it in him to deliver an amazing performance, and I'm really happy for Jared Leto. Both deliver career-best performances, from what I am aware of. This film couldn't have been easy to write and it works really well, especially in the first half. Of course, it relies a lot on the acting, and luckily it's quite amazing.

Regardless of my personal feelings towards the egotistic real-life McConaughey, his might just be the best male performance of 2013, and he has a whole bunch of emotional scenes, very well acted.

For the most part, I approve of the film. Sure, it could've been better, but it still hits plenty of right notes.

My rating for the film: 8/10.
